Protecting Human Rights and Fighting Corruption

Law enforcement capacity building and promoting border security are vital measures to combat corruption and protect human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina. DTCare intends to promote public safety and civil society with thematic interactive workshops combining the inputs and expertise of university students (security studies, human rights, criminal justice, law) and working professionals in the field to investigate cutting-edge technical advances, international legal frameworks, and networking to combat trans-national criminal networks, corruption, human and endangered species trafficking.

DTCare in cooperation with the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies & Center for Human Rights at the University of Sarajevo hold workshops and assistance seminars aimed at improving border security while ensuring dignity, compassion, and human rights during the ongoing migration crisis.

The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHBP) expressed interest in technical assistance to the upcoming application for IPA funds by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The key technical deficiencies expressed by the BHBP were their relative unfamiliarity with the current commercial offering and spectrum of the available technology and the ability to solicit information and ROM pricing. BHBP was not entirely certain on the system architecture, mandatory requirements, limitations and capabilities of the systems required for border imaging-surveillance-reconnaissance (ISR) and command-control-communications and computers (C4). Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently faced with an increasing strain from a mass migration trend.
