MOVEMENT Volleyball Camp

DTCare Unifies Girls from Diverse Backgrounds at the Inaugural MOVEMENT Volleyball Camp

DTCare held our first MOVEMENT Volleyball Camp at the picturesque Mt. Vlašić in Bosnia and Herzegovina from July 21–23, 2023, bringing together girls aged 11-15 from diverse ethnic backgrounds for a weekend focused on empowerment, teamwork, and unity.

Through the inaugural MOVEMENT camp, DTCare aimed to inspire and support girls and young women as leaders and role models, building bridges between communities through sports, mentoring, and educational engagement.

About the 2023 MOVEMENT Volleyball Camp

As part of our Unification Through Sports Initiative, DTCare’s inaugural MOVEMENT Volleyball Camp welcomed girls from OK Travnik and OK Victory Novi Travnik to the Eko Fis complex on Mount Vlašić. Over three days, the teams participated in volleyball training, social engagement activities, and mentoring sessions to promote tolerance, empathy, and reconciliation among youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Evening activities and entertainment allowed participants to connect with mentors and volunteers from both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the USA, fostering cross-cultural friendships. In addition to volleyball, the girls participated in workshops on communication, team spirit, peer pressure, and personal safety in both natural and online environments.

Tailored mentoring sessions provided the girls with insights into potential future careers in various fields, including medicine, science, engineering, astronomy, psychology, and security. DTCare's first MOVEMENT camp concluded with the formation of new friendships, enhanced teamwork skills, and increased leadership potential. This success set the stage for a series of multidisciplinary camps focused on the social and personal growth of young women in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
